Upperfield Farm, sat on the shores of Carsington Water is a fantastic place for families and friends to gather together and enjoy the surroundings. The cottage is approached by a no-through road and so is quite, peaceful, and safe for children.
This characterful, old farmhouse provides comfortable and rustic accommodation with sleeping space for 22 guests in 10 bedrooms, spread over 2 floors plus a large living room for everyone socialise together. Many windows have stunning lake-views, or green countryside to look out over.
The huge dining room has a wood burning stove and a table large enough for 22 people to sit together and enjoy special celebratory meals. Bed linen is provided and beds will be made up on arrival. Heating, logs, water and electric are all provided. There's parking for up to 10 cars. WiFi throughout. The quaint village of Kirk Ireton is within walking distance and has a shop, a traditional alehouse (The Barely Mow - with beer still served from a jug). Many supermarkets can be found in Ashbourne (7 miles) and Derby (13 miles).

Across the lake at Carsington Water Visitor’s Centre there are shops, cafes and play areas. The watersports centre offers kayaking, windsurfing, sailing and fishing, and has a cycle-hire for all the family. The accessible 8 mile circular route is on the doorstep great for a family walk or a morning run!
Locally, there are many country houses and gardens to explore including Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall and Sudbury Hall, all having regular special events. The city of Derby has a wonderful cathedral, busy shopping centre, cinemas and theatres.
The Peak District National Park is home bustling towns: Buxton with its elegant architecture and history, Bakewell the home of the Bakewell pudding, Castleton with its castle and caverns and Matlock Bath with its cable cars, caves and theme park to make it a great day out. This area is one of the top walking destinations in the UK, with long challenging treks to easy circulars. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy extreme sports: mountain biking, climbing and caving.
The traditional market town of Ashbourne has stylish boutiques, teashops and a pleasant atmosphere. Take a walk down the Tissington Trail to reach Thorpe and Dovedale where you can cross the ‘stepping stones’ and climb Thorpe Cloud for a breath taking view of the valley, or for the thrill seekers, Alton Towers is just a 30-minute drive away.
